Training Eligibility & Student Requirements
Adaptive Firearms Institute provides real-world firearms training for responsible individuals.
Our courses are built around performance, decision-making, and the ability to apply skills in the real world.
TRAIN HARD — SO THE FIGHT IS EASY
Basic Eligibility Requirements
To participate in training, students must meet the following:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be legally allowed to possess a firearm
- Be able to follow instructions and apply basic safety rules
- Be capable of safely participating in the selected course
Training for Different Capabilities
We train students of all experience levels and physical capabilities.
You do not need to be in peak physical condition to train here.
Our standard is simple:
train within your real-world capability.
If you are not going to do it in a real-world situation, you will not be expected to do it in training.
Training can be adjusted as needed, as long as safety can be maintained.
Who We Commonly Train
We train a broad range of students — from first-time shooters to experienced professionals operating in demanding environments.
- New shooters looking for a structured starting point
- Experienced civilian shooters focused on real-world performance
- Concealed carriers building practical, everyday capability
- Law enforcement and military personnel
- Federal agency personnel across multiple roles and mission sets
- Corporate and critical infrastructure security teams (energy, defense contractors, executive protection)
- Individuals with physical limitations who can safely participate
If you are willing to learn, follow instruction, and operate safely — you belong here.
Safety Is Non-Negotiable
This training reflects real-world application. What we do is inherently dangerous.
We do not lower standards to eliminate risk — we manage it through:
- Disciplined weapon handling
- Efficient, proven techniques
- Repetition and consistency
- Constant situational awareness
Weapon manipulation is built to
second nature
through repetition —
allowing your focus to shift to
thinking, decision-making, and problem solving.
The goal is not just performance — it is the ability to
avoid, manage, and resolve conflict
when it matters.
Your ability to think is your primary weapon. Everything else supports it.
All students are expected to follow instructions immediately, maintain full control of their weapon,
and operate with awareness at all times.
Instructor Discretion
AFI instructors reserve the right to modify drills, adjust participation, or remove a student from training if safety becomes a concern.
Failure to follow instructions, unsafe weapon handling, or lack of awareness may result in removal from the course.
