Adaptive Pistol 1 is designed for those new to firearms or seeking to build confidence with a handgun. This course lays the groundwork for safe, consistent, and effective pistol handling in the real world—not just on the square range. Whether you’re brand new or want to correct bad habits early, this is the structured, science-backed introduction every responsible gun owner needs.
📋 Course Overview
This 1-day (5.5-hour) instructor-led course is kept intentionally small—capped at 16 students—to ensure each participant receives focused, personalized attention. The day begins with our MMEESS Brief (Mindset, Medical, Emergency, Environment, Safety, Schedule), creating a foundation of safety, situational awareness, and personal responsibility before ever touching a firearm.
You'll build core competencies through expert instruction, dry-fire reinforcement, and live-fire drills, including:
• Firearm safety principles and range conduct
• Administrative, tactical, and speed reloads
• Proper grip, stance, and sight picture
• Trigger control and recoil management
• Clearing common malfunctions
• Equipment setup and gear placement
• Holster presentation fundamentals
• Biomechanical efficiency under stress
🎯 Core Skills & Drills
• Firearms anatomy and manipulation techniques
• Pistol types and basic operation (semi-auto & revolver)
• Proprioception and trigger control drills using laser pistols
• Sight picture and trigger prep validation drills using diagnostic lasers
• Repetition-based drills to instill safe handling and fundamentals
• Precision vs. speed: understanding how to balance both
• Malfunction clearing and gear indexing under instructor guidance
• Positional shooting and movement introduction
• Intro to movement: facing drills and 1-step offline of attack
• Holster work and basic draw sequence for applicable carry methods
• Shoot/don’t shoot decision-making scenarios
• What to do after a defensive shooting
• Exploring the question: “Are firearms right for me?” — personal, legal, and moral considerations
🎒 Required Equipment
• A functional semi-auto handgun (any common defensive caliber)
• Minimum of
2 magazines (3 recommended) / If using a revolver, bring a small bag for extra ammo; (speed loaders or moon clips recommended)

• Belt, holster, and magazine pouch
• Eye (Sunglasses will Work) and ear protection
• Hat, Weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes
